14 students received secondary school diplomas and post-secondary degrees from the ministries of Education and Higher Education, together with the respective academic institutions. Post-secondary graduates received degrees in Economics, Administration, Accounting, Computers and a diploma in General Health.
UNHCR and partners, students and their parents, and the Somali consulate were in attendance. Many speeches have been addressed in the graduation ceremony. On behalf of the Somali government head of Somali consulate in Aden, Ahmed Abdi Hassan, thanked UNHCR and partners for supporting the students throughout their studies. He also noted that knowledge and science will rebuild Somalia after the effects of war.
Mr Mahmoud Hussain, Head of UNHCR Sub Office Aden, congratulated the graduated students and wished them the best of luck.
Mustafa Al-Sufi, DAFI Project Officer, thanked the German government for providing the students with scholarships for post-secondary education.
Songs, presentations and Somali folklore dance helped celebrate the graduation.
